New 'Star Trek Beyond' Details Have Us Beyond Excited

The new details regarding Star Trek Beyond, the highly anticipated third installment in the Star Trek series, have us beyond excited.

At a Los Angeles fan event on Friday, director Justin Lin announced that the film will be premiered on July 20 in IMAX at Comic-Con 2016.

This announcement was accompanied by a stunning new poster.

A second trailer for the film was also released.

In this latest trailer, Star Trek franchise newcomers Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella can be seen portraying the villainous Krall and badass alien Jaylah, respectively.

The film can also be seen taking a serious note as Captain Jim Kirk (Chris Pine) questions his place in Starfleet and wonders about the universe’s future.

However, Star Trek Beyond is still going to be “funny, it’s got a total sense of humor,” Chris Pine told Yahoo! News in December. “[It] has the most action out of any [Star Trek film] we’ve done so far. People who like summer blockbusters and like shit blowing up will like this.”

Star Trek Beyond will be released worldwide on June 22, and it’s sure to be a hit.
