Emma Jensen is one the most talked about artists on the scene right now. She has garnered support from the likes of H&M, Paper, The Line of Best Fit, Pigeons & Planes, Wonderland and more and now she ready to take the charts by storm with the release of her latest single ‘Rush’.

Here we speak exclusively to Emma Jensen to discuss her new single, musical inspirations, future plans and more:

Growing up who inspired your love of music?

Basically everything my parents would play at home or in the car… Some of the artists I remember the most are Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Leonard Cohen, Eva Cassidy and Joni Mitchell.

Who are you currently listening to at this moment in time?

I’m deep in love with Lykke Li’s new album. I’ve been playing it on repeat since it dropped. I also love Troye Sivan’s “Dance To This” featuring Ariana Grande. It has such a nice 80’s vibe. Other favs in my playlist right now are “Mood” by Charlie Hanson, “Forget to Forget” by Shy Martin, “Train” by Lil Halima, and “Crush” by Cigarettes After Sex.

How would you describe your own sound to new listeners?

Minimalistic pop, slightly to the left.

You recently released your new single “Rush,” what is the inspiration behind the track?

The lyrics are inspired by the frustration of wanting to feel the surge of adrenaline. Like new love. But instead feeling nothing. I went through a breakup some months before I wrote the song, so I guess that was a big part of it as well. For the production I was really inspired by 80’s pop. I listened to a lot of Peter Cetera in that period.

What do you hope fans take from the song?

I hope it’s relatable. I think everyone is longing for that “Rush” feeling.

Can we expect a full length album from you soon?

We’ll see! I have more music coming very soon. I’m spending the whole summer in the studio making new songs.

Do you have any touring plans lined up?

Right now I’m focusing on making new songs. But I would love to go on tour soon. I got to play Ja Ja Ja in London and two of the biggest Norwegian festivals, which was amazing.

What are your long term career goals?

After I have established myself as an artist, I want to continue to release new music, touring, maintain a fanbase and reach out to as many people as possible. But the most important part for me is to be able to make honest music that I truly love. So I guess my main goal is music and happiness.
